For nearly 30 years parents have trusted our nurseries to provide their children with a safe, secure, happy, healthy and stimulating environment.
We offer a child-centred approach where children are encouraged to develop their individuality, creativity and self-confidence in secure surroundings. Children need to feel a sense of security and belonging when they are away from their parents, and this is the key philosophy of our nurseries. We strive to ensure that all children feel happy, relaxed and safe. We also encourage them to feel confident in co-operating and developing good relations with the adults caring for them, and with the other children in the group.
Littleworld Day Nurseries provides a wide range of appropriate learning materials and stimulating, high-quality toys and activities, both indoors and outdoors. Children are provided with a varied, healthy diet, fresh air, rest and play, all contributing positively to their physical, emotional and educational development. Surrounded by their peers, they can develop at their own pace, play a full part in activities devised for their age and enthusiastically learn new skills.
Every child is recognised and treated as an individual, within a framework of the highest ethical standards and equal opportunities. We work closely with parents to provide a level of care that meets the high standards that you would expect for your child. We are fully aware that parents are children’s first educators and appreciate when parents and practitioners work in partnership, the results for the child are positive. Prepare for the day
What to bring with you
Each child should have sufficient clothes for their daily needs, plus spare clothing in the event of accidents; please remember to name all clothing and footwear. Parents are asked to ensure that children do not bring valuable items with them as the nursery cannot accept responsibility for any subsequent loss or damage. Please bring suitable outdoor clothing, sunhats in the summer months, wellington boots, gloves and hats during winter months to ensure that your child can always benefit from outdoor pursuits.
Special care
Medication
Only medicines prescribed by a doctor may be brought into the nursery. These must be clearly labelled with your child’s name, and dated. The medication must be handed to the manager on duty, who will ask you to complete a permission form. Life-saving medication must be accompanied by a completed care form.
Handle any situation
Accidents & incidents
Despite extensive risk analysis and all efforts to remove hazards, accidents can happen. All such incidents are recorded and reported back to the parent/carer, who will be asked to sign an accidents form. Where an accident is of a serious nature, we will contact the parent/carer to advise them of what has happened and what action is being taken. Where necessary we will contact the emergency services.

Healthy eating
At Littleworld Day Nurseries, mealtimes are happy, relaxed social occasions sitting in small groups at tables with a member of staff.
The children are encouraged to eat well and learn about the food, not only to protect their health but also to set the foundation for their future health and wellbeing.
The pre-school children take it in turns to set out the tables. The lunch is provided in serving dishes to encourage independence with choice and portion size by serving themselves, which is carefully monitored by staff.

Nutrition
Meals provided are planned by our resident chef to be nutritious and well balanced.
The meals are freshly prepared daily, with all fresh produce locally sourced through various suppliers. Our Food and Drink Policy takes into account best practice by not adding any salt and using low-sugar recipes, and by checking all food labels for salt and sugar levels to ensure we do not exceed to recommended levels for children under five.

Our Philosophy
These are the ways in which we practice teaching as well as our aims and visions to support children’s well-being and learning at nursery, Each child is respected as an individual and we adapt our practice/pedagogy to benefit each and every child’s unique identities; their strengths, prior knowledge, experiences and interests.
We will work in partnership with parents, carers, siblings and communities (including other settings and professionals) throughout each child’s journey.
Well-being:
All Management staff are qualified First Aiders for Mental Health and are trained in supporting staff and child well being by identifying signs of stress, anxiety and poor mental health. We strive to ensure all staff have the knowledge and are proactive to recognise any safeguarding concerns that affect both the wellbeing of children, families and staff; high levels of wellbeing are linked to high levels of achievement. We recognise that all children can display a range of emotions that may inhibit their ability to progress, staff nurture children to recognise these emotions, enabling them to learn to self-regulate.
Teaching:
We believe that high quality teaching comes from teachers that are interested, excited and responsive about the experiences that children will have at Littleworld Day Nurseries. We are passionate about professional love and attachment and how this informs practice to ensure adults create meaningful relationships with children and families.
Inclusion:
We aim to ensure we have a team which reflects society with a diverse group of adults from all walks of life. Serving our community is at the forefront of our shared thinking, this is reflected by our open-door policy. Families from both rural and town environments are catered for through both sister nurseries in Andover and Clatford.
Play environments:
We believe that children gain the most from their learning experiences when they are allowed sustained long periods of time to explore both indoors and outdoors through free flow play, ensuring their safety is maintained. Our environments provide safe and homely spaces that are ever evolving; promoting discussion and providing new experiences reflecting upon children’s families, cultures and interests.
